ALL MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Membership Dues
-
They are paid at the end of each year for the following year. These dues count towards the following year’s budget​
Attendance at Club Events & Fundraisers
- Members are allowed 1 unexcused absence and 2 excused absences.
- Our Club events and fundraisers are planned by our General Board committees

There is usually one per month​

At all events, we will update the club on what is happening & upcoming responsibilities. It is essentially a meeting for the whole club.

Fundraisers require participation by all members (either by donating an item or working a shift… or both!)

Each member is required to work a 2 hour shift at the garage sale
Fundraising Contributions

Our fundraisers: Fall Raffle, Garage Sale, Silent Auction, Fashion Show

Fall raffle
-
Each member is required to sell 10 raffle tickets at $10 and turn is the $100 at a designated meeting
-
Our raffle chairs are currently working on getting items for the raffle; if you have any suggestions please let us know!

Garage Sale
-
Each member is required to bring in 10 items and drop them off at designated hours a the hostess's house
-
In addition, each member must work a 2 hour shift, either setting up and pricing the Saturday night before, or working it on the Sunday morning.

Silent Auction
-
Each member is required to donate a silent auction item of at least $50 value
-
Keep in mind that many places are willing to donate items if you tell them about our club; you do not have to buy an item!

Each member must also collaborate with her assigned group in December and organize a themed basket (theme will be assigned); these baskets will be assembled by the exec board and then raffled off at the auction which takes place before the fashion show

Fashion Show

Every member must purchase a Symphonettes Fashion Show Ticket

This is a celebration of our seniors, final event, and largest fundraiser
-
We encourage you to invite your families, as it is a great way to celebrate our accomplishments and the more people, the more successful the fundraiser!

Community Service and Ushering
-
Community Service Shifts
-
Community service shifts are generally things like volunteering at Fairchild events, Coral Gables Community Foundation events, the Beaux Arts Festival, etc.
-
Most are around 3 hours and they take place on Saturdays & Sundays
-
You will wear your Symphonettes T-shirt which you can buy after this meeting ($15) unless otherwise directed with comfortable shoes and appropriate bottoms
-
3 community service shifts for regular members, and 2 for exec board, general board, and senior members

Ushering Shifts
-
Ushering shifts are things like handing out playbills at plays, helping check people into concerts, showing guests to their seats, etc.

To these shifts, you will wear a white long sleeve button-down with

These are much nicer dress; for bottoms, please either wear a black skirt or nice black pants (no black jeans) and flats

3 ushering shifts for regular members, and 2 for exec board, general board, and senior members

Nominating Members
-
In January, we will ask that each member propose a new member for the club
-
This person may be a rising freshman, sophomore, or junior
-
Current freshmen and sophomore members must propose a minimum of two new members
-
Juniors and Seniors must nominate a minimum of one new person
-
You can propose as many as you like
-

All proposed members are invited to the Fashion Show
-
